The Hiett Walsh Team
Fee-only Wealth Management from fiduciary advisors you can trust.
Comprehensive advisory services for the long-term
If you have previously worked with or considered working with a financial advisor, you’ll know: many advisors confine themselves to working exclusively in the realm of stocks, bonds, cash and related investment vehicles. Their business success depends on handling as many clients as possible, with as little interaction as possible, resulting in a cookie-cutter approach to investment management. Our approach is radically different. We built our business in a way that enables us to get to know our clients and to learn about their families, their charitable instincts, and their hopes and dreams for the present and future. Based on that, we aim to provide comprehensive financial advice from, yes, managing investment portfolios, to advising on tax, estate planning, and legal considerations, to providing guidance on private equity, real estate, non-traditional and other investment classes. And we tailor clients’ investments to match their values through socially responsible (SRI) and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) guided investment practices.

Fiduciary Responsibility: RIAs offer the highest accountability to clients
There are two common approaches to the investment advisory business: Independent Broker-Dealers (IBD) and Registered Independent Advisories. In many cases, they can offer similar services, and assume similar roles, relative to their clients. But, among the differences is this: IBDs are held to a suitability standard when it comes to managing your money, and RIAs are held to a fiduciary standard. What does that mean? It means that IBDs can select investments on your behalf that are deemed “suitable” for achieving the goals that you have expressed – and other factors such as their fees, commissions, or profitability may be factored into those selections. The RIA, in contrast, is held to a fiduciary standard, and must always select the best investment options for their clients, regardless of any other factors. We have chosen to organize as an RIA, and to embrace the higher accountability standards on behalf of our clients.
SRI and ESG: Investing in a way that matches your values
Beyond investing with clients’ best financial interests and goals in mind, we also take into account each client’s values and beliefs, and strive to invest in a way that enables clients to use their resources to improve the world around them. We do this through a Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) approach, that takes into account Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, among others, including (and especially) those directed by the client.
