Welcome to summer! Wherever you may be, we hope that you’ve enjoyed some beautiful weather and a fantastic Fourth of July holiday.
We’d love to hear about your summer adventures with family and friends, even if we are not meeting with you soon for a financial review meeting. Relaxing by the pool, sitting by a bonfire, grilling a delicious meal, listening to live music – whatever you love doing this season, our wish is that you’re able to create some new memories to cherish!
Our team has enjoyed the opportunity to take some time away from the office since April’s tax deadline. We are grateful that we can return to such fulfilling work alongside you all!
Financial planning is a journey that continues year-round. Our team’s highest priority for Q2 of 2025 has been proactively looking ahead to the second half of the year to determine how we can provide you the most value. This includes year-end tax planning, support with funding education for children, tracking progress with Required Minimum Distributions, and cash flow planning for those in retirement. Despite the headlines and market volatility throughout the year’s first six months, there are many things we can do to help guide you to long-term success.
As things slow slightly during the summertime, we’re all given a chance to reflect on the progress we’ve made year-to-date and get organized for what we aim to accomplish in the second half of the year. We have found that the summer months can be a good time to address estate plans and insurance coverage so you and your families feel secure for the future.

For many of us, summertime is a time for vacation and relaxation. In our household, June was no exception. My husband and I traveled to northern England to visit his side of the family and celebrate two significant birthdays (87th and 89th) with the entire family. We had 16 of us at the dinner table, spanning multiple generations.
After our time in England, my husband and I took a quick flight down to southern Spain. We spent five days exploring Granada and Seville, enjoying delicious local foods, and wandering through ancient medieval streets. Most importantly, we took a break from our busy lives of tasks and chores to simply be present and enjoy the sounds, sights, and adventures of new places.
I hope each of you can pause and enjoy a cool summer evening soon!
What I am reading now: The Technological Republic – Hard Power, Soft Belief, and the Future of the West By Alexander C. Karp and Nicholas W. Zamiska
Thought provoking book on the future of our business economy, science and technology and the politics at play.
My favorite summertime treat: Hot fresh grilled peaches with a touch of flaky sea salt!

Although I love Fall, I don’t want it to come too quickly! My Fourth of July holiday was memorable once again, as I played golf with two of my brothers and enjoyed some time by the pool. I watched the fireworks show in the evening as my nephew sat on my lap smiling ear to ear. Moments like that don’t come often. It brought me back to my childhood, reflecting on how simple things can bring such joy.
Wedding season is in full swing for me. I attended a beautiful wedding in Big Sky, Montana at the end of June. Shockingly, that was my first time in Montana, but I will certainly be returning at some point. Any chance to spend time in the mountains and away from the city puts my mind at ease.
One of my favorite activities during summertime is attending as many concerts as I can – or simply listening to live music outdoors. There is no shortage of opportunities for that in Denver, and Red Rocks is calling my name! I’m currently mapping out the concert schedule through September, so I’ll be sure to share some photos in our next newsletter.

Summertime in Colorado is truly a magical experience! Whether it’s embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures in the mountains, enjoying water activities at our many picturesque lakes, or simply hanging out with friends and riding bikes to local neighborhood ice cream shops and eateries, there’s always something to look forward to. My favorite summertime memory is making hand churned ice cream with my grandparents. It was hard work manually churning the ice cream, but so worth it.
One of my favorite pastimes this summer besides hiking Hanging Lake Trailhead was barbecuing with friends and family. My always-delightful dog, Paco, enjoyed plenty of summer shenanigans at the dog park, in the water, and on the trails. We spent quite a bit of time attempting to teach him to stay on a paddleboard. He’s such a happy, wiggly boy, but he tends to sink – so it’s still very much a work in progress. I can’t wait to share pictures of his first successful ride once he masters it!
My favorite summertime treat: Picking up some mint chocolate chip ice cream from Howdy Homemade Ice Cream. Not only is it delicious, but it also comes from an amazing ice cream shop that supports hiring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Over the past six months or so, our team has thoroughly enjoyed hearing stories of first jobs during client review meetings. I wanted to share a little about my first job as a child on a farm.
This first job was unpaid, dangerous, and involved long hours. I remember waking up at the crack of dawn to head out into the field to pick rocks, plant, cultivate, or harvest – depending on the season we were in.
For those who didn’t grow up on a farm, the fields had to be prepared for planting the crops every spring because rocks would surface through the winter. To avoid breaking the seeding equipment, we worked our way through the fields, manually picked up the rocks, and moved them to a designated spot off the field. We used a piece of equipment called a “rock picker” if the rocks were large.

I can say unequivocally that this was the worst job in farming for my siblings and me. We were thrilled when it was finally time to jump into a tractor and get started on the next step in the planting process.
Working on the farm instilled in me a strong work ethic and taught me so many valuable lessons that I still carry today. I learned the importance of teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance, as well as the value of taking pride in your work. Those early mornings and long days on the farm helped shape the person I am today, and I’m grateful for the experience.
My favorite summertime treats: Fresh strawberries and blueberries in salads, smoothies, and – of course – on shortcake with whipped cream!
Conclusion
Before we know it, the holiday season will be back in the blink of an eye. As always, we welcome your thoughts on things to plan for as we approach year-end, but we hope you and your families have a great rest of your summer.
Our team would love to hear more about what you have planned for the coming months. Our passion is acting as your partner in achieving your goals, but we’re also passionate about hearing and seeing what all your hard work is allowing you to do for enjoyment.
We appreciate you!
