Enjoy Our Team Newsletter – First Quarter 2025

As we enter spring and warmer temperatures, our team is thrilled to introduce our Quarterly Newsletter.

We truly value your willingness to share your significant life moments with us and we enjoy learning more about your lives outside of our financial planning relationship. Our goal in creating this Quarterly Newsletter is to provide a brief glimpse into our lives outside of the workplace, what we’re excited about, and personal goals motivating us – in addition to highlighting important financial planning topics.

So much of our relationship rightfully includes financial planning, but we believe that continuing to build personal relationships with our clients will further allow us to help you achieve your goals. We promise to help you navigate your life’s path and protect what you cherish.

Ensuring our clients receive the support they need in advance of filing 2024 tax returns was our team’s highest priority for Q1 of 2024. We know it can feel overwhelming at times and accuracy is of the upmost importance, so we wanted to make the tax season as stress-free as possible for our clients. For that reason, we took a leadership role in compiling tax documents and communicating diligently – whether you enlisted a CPA to file returns on your behalf or you filed returns yourself.

Because the tax code enforces strict deadlines, our responsibility as your accountability partner was to ensure timeliness throughout tax season and to avoid last-minute need for action. Although we do not file tax returns on our clients’ behalf, we are always here to guide you through one of the most important portions of what impacts your financial plan.

I love reading and listening to audiobooks on my morning walks around the lake, so I want to share my top three books this quarter – each from a different category of literature.

  • Fun and Leisure: “The Women” by Kristin Hannah, which offers a poignant portrayal of a nurse’s experiences during the Vietnam War and her return home navigating life;
  • Graduate Degree Class: “Consciousness” by E.O. Wilson, an intellectually stimulating and challenging exploration of bridging sciences and liberal arts education; and
  • Curiosity of Human Behavior: “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins, a motivational, fun read reminding me to find patience and peace by focusing on the controllable aspects of our mindset amidst the external chaos of modern relationships and modern life.

Reflection on Lessons Learned: Each book left a unique impression on me. “The Women” underscored the importance of historical perspective and the gift of personal growth through challenging times. “Consciousness” challenged me with its deep, thought-provoking ideas about the importance of holistic and multi-disciplinary thinking as an investor and leader. “The Let Them Theory” offered practical life skills, particularly valuable in navigating personal relationships. What I loved most about Mel Robbins’ book was the reminder that we, as humans, all desire to find control in the chaos. As a financial planner and investment advisor, life is full of unpredictable moments. We must each say, “Let me focus on what I can do.”

I love my work and career. I am grateful to each and every one of you for sharing your personal stories and life journeys with me.

P.S. I would enjoy hearing more about your reading experiences this year.

I was fortunate to ring in the new year in paradise while traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with my girlfriend and her family on their annual vacation. This trip helped me reflect on the past year and return to Colorado refreshed with a renewed sense of gratitude.

In recent weeks, I’ve enjoyed my favorite thing about living in Colorado – SKI SEASON! Vail remains one of my favorite places on Earth. The slopes continue to call my name each Winter. Growing up in Chicago, my favorite vacations each year were escaping the gloomy Midwest weather for bluebird days on some of the best mountains the U.S. offers. Something about the crisp mountain air just feels magical to me.

Next on my list of adventures is a trip to Europe, where I’ll be participating in one of my best friend’s weddings in Ireland. I will also return to Barcelona, where I studied for a semester in college. I look forward to re-visiting so many memories made back in 2015 while adding to what makes Barcelona and Spain so special to me.

Living in Colorado truly feels like a blessing, especially with our incredible state parks and national parks just a drive away. I eagerly anticipate exploring the great outdoors with my rescue dog, Paco. With mud season upon us until early June, we’ll be sticking to Paco’s favorite spot: Cherry Creek State Park – DOLA. It’s a fantastic place where he can run amuck through 100 acres of creeks and trails.

Come early July, I’m thrilled to hike Hanging Lake. My friends are not so thrilled at the 7 a.m. reservation time slot, but the views will be amazing. Unfortunately, Paco won’t join me on this adventure. “No Dogs Allowed.” But rest assured, there will be plenty of hiking excursions for us to enjoy together.

Looking forward to sharing more experiences and adventures with you soon.

Spring is my favorite season, probably because I grew up in the Midwest where winters are much harsher than in Colorado. During winter, I usually spend more time working on puzzles and reading than I do at other times of the year.

Right now, I’m reading “Revenge of the Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. A friend introduced me to Gladwell’s work years ago and “The Tipping Point” was the first book of his that I read. Twenty-five years after writing about social epidemics and the idea that there can be a “magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire,” Gladwell took a fresh look at the mysteries of tipping points.

As spring continues, I’ll spend more time outdoors, hiking with friends, and occasionally rollerblading along the trail that follows the South Platte River. Our family is excited about a trip to the Chicago area in April to see our youngest son perform in his college musical. We might even pack our rollerblades in hopes of nice weather and another trail to explore.

Conclusion

Our team hopes you and your families enjoy a great conclusion to spring. Before we know it, summer will be here!

We would love to hear more about what you have planned in the coming months. Our passion is acting as your partner in achieving your goals, but we’re also passionate about hearing and seeing what all of your hard work is allowing you to do for enjoyment. You can expect our Hadary Team Newsletter in your inbox each quarter, but we welcome your feedback and what else you want to hear about.

We appreciate you!
